Total Time Needed: 1 Hour
This toy is so much fun to play with, your children won't realize they're also getting a workout. They simply slip the loop over one sock-shod ankle, then use that leg to spin the can in circles while jumping the rope with the other leg.
Materials
- 3-foot length of ¼-inch-thick braided nylon rope
- Colored electrical tape
- Clean and empty single-serving-size Pringles can (or a similarly sized can with a plastic lid)
- Craft knife
- ½ cup uncooked rice
Instructions
1. Tie a loop wide enough to fit over your child's foot, leaving a short tail at the knot. For sturdiness, tape the rope tail to the main rope as shown.
2. In the center of the can's plastic lid, cut a small X that's ¼ - to ½-inch wide. Cut off the points of the X to make a square hole.
3. Thread the end of the rope through the top of the lid and double-knot it.
4. Add the rice to the can and seal the lid (the knot should be inside the can).
5. Attach four pieces of tape in a crisscross pattern to secure the lid and strengthen the hole. Cover the can with tape.
