What you'll need
- 1-1/2 cups instant or old-fashioned oatmeal
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup raisins
Helpful Tip:
Using instant oatmeal will yield a softer oatmeal square. Using rolled oats will yield a heartier, grainy square. Both are delicious! Add in 1/2 cup of chopped walnuts for a delicious crunch!

How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together oatmeal, whole wheat flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon until just combined. Stir in egg, butter, milk and raisins with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon, until just combined. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow 5 minutes to cool before cutting into squares. Squares will keep in the refrigerator, tightly wrapped in foil for 5 days.
