Doilies aren’t just for serving desserts anymore. Their pretty lace patterns are perfect for decorating, and on your wall, they make fanciful flowers. Add some green tape for stems and leaves, and your room becomes a garden of colorful creativity.
What you'll need
- Doilies in two sizes (e.g., 14” and 8”)
- Acrylic paint
- Spray adhesive
- Green masking tape, 1” wide
How to make it
1. Starting with the larger doily, paint the outer part that has the lace pattern. It’s easiest to dab some paint on a sponge, and then apply the sponge to the doily.
2. Then paint the outer part of the smaller doily a different color.
3. Using some spray adhesive, glue the smaller doily on top of the larger doily. You can also use glue, double-sided tape or a glue stick.
4. Apply spray adhesive on the back of the doily flower and press on the wall. The lace part of the flower will not stick easily on the wall, but that’s okay. As long as the center of the flower stays on the wall, you’re fine.
5. Apply a length of green masking tape to the wall for the stem, starting at the bottom of the flower and going to the floor.
6. Create leaves by cutting curves into the masking tape, and apply the leaves to the stem.
