This knotted anklet is such a cinch to make, it won't be long before your child is mass-producing colorful thread jewelry for all his friends.
What you'll need
- Scissors
- Embroidery thread (2 or more colors)
- 1 button
- Masking tape
How to make it
1. Cut eight to ten 3-foot lengths of embroidery thread and arrange them in a bunch so that the ends match up.
2. At one end of the bunch, tie a loop that's slightly bigger than the button and tape it to a stationary surface. Separate one thread from the rest.
3. Wrap it around the bunch and then up over itself, as shown above. Pull it taut.
4. Continue wrapping and knotting the same strand around the bunch until you wish to change colors.
5. Simply separate a new thread from the group and blend the last one back in. Change colors as often as you like.
6. When you're near the end, tie a tight overhand knot.
7. Thread the loose ends through the button holes, tie them in a knot, and trim off any excess.
